The trip could not have been more fun. We were tucked in the woods about a three minute walk to the beach. Although this campsite is gigantic, the group site we had was away from most of the other single campgrounds. Each family had their on space and we pooled resources for cooking and the setup around the campfire.
We were definitely camping with some veterans. I wish I had taken a picture of the Stewart's family tent, complete with three rooms that one could separate and a pet door! Bill and I had a realization that we have not quite crossed over to family style car-camping with our lightweight three-man tent. We have started the switch, choosing to use an air mattress over the lightweight thremo-rests inside our tent. Boy was that nice.
During the day we trekked along the beach and up the rocks to Devil's Punchbowl, a swirling pool of waves. There seemed to be endless sand with a shallow tide that made it easy to walk along the water. Cora enjoyed picking up stones and shells all along the shore. It was a bit windy too. Although it was almost 100 degrees in Portland, it was more like 67 at the beach, so we had to bundle up!

After the children went to sleep, we got to hang out by the fire, drink beer, and make s'mores. All and all, most of the little ones slept thought the night, with only a few brief peeps. I think Cora was very excited to be sleeping in a tent with us and we cannot wait to do it again!
